I absolutely loved taking photos of this handsome, smiley wee guy yesterday. He was with his lovely, relaxed mum and auntie who were an absolute pleasure to have over to my house in Portobello, Edinburgh. As newborn photography sessions go this one was perfect – Frankie gave me lots of lovely smiles and then had a lovely snooze letting me get some gorgeous sleepy shots.

      The theme of this week’s Photo Friday gave me a very good excuse to take a few photos at story time tonight. Here’s my favourite.
This week’s Photo Friday is themed ‘Body of Water’. I am so lucky to live by the sea in Portobello. -the beach is an amazing location for family photography in Edinburgh. I love photographing kids when they are free to have fun in an outdoor location and Portobello Beach is perfect. Here are some more examples of my family photography in Edinburgh.

Hi Sonja, Here a few photos from a recent visit to the Royal Botanical Gardens in Edinburgh. I absolutely love having a wander around the Botanics, there is so much to look at and they make a great backdrop for photographing children. The kids were so happy being outdoors and exploring nature. Bring on the sunshine! Beautiful Freya My youngest, Cameron I love this shot of Euan. His bright organge t-shirt looks great against all of that green. Euan waving to Freya, delighted to see her! A fun shot of Tallulah. What a cracking smile from Poppy! I love this one. The kids just look so happy. Euan needs to learn not to peek when playing hide and seek! Gorgeous smile from Ewan.
Freya loves her beasties! Look boys, beasties! Poppy’s gorgeous eyes. This week’s Photo Friday challenge is ‘Shades of Gray’. I really love this image from baby Charlie’s photo shoot last month in Portobello, Edinburgh. The tiniest bit of movement caused a blurred effect which I think looks great.
Yesterday’s photo shoot with 4 month old Sylvan was an absolute pleasure. As you can see she is utterly beautiful and she was a joy to photograph. Mhairi and Ben, it was lovely to meet you and your gorgeous baby daughter, I hope you like the photos! This baby photography session took place on the Water of Leith in Edinburgh and then in the family’s home.
This week’s Photo Friday theme is ‘travelling’ so I thought I would share this photo from a driving trip to Europe I took with my family when our son Euan was just 6 months old. My husband Arran was dipping Euan’s toes into Lake Orta in Italy. We are going back to Italy this summer, I can’t wait!

Thanks Tonya! I absolutely love taking photos of babies and children but I also enjoy trying something a bit different. I had loads of fun photographing raindrops in my mum’s garden this weekend. I love the detail that’s possible with a macro lens – it’s better than my eyesight!
This week’s Photo Friday challenge is Metropolis. Another great excuse to have a play with my macro lens.
